Top Things to Do in Vegas When You Don’t Gamble or Party Hard

***

Everyone knows Vegas is the absolute party city, however aside from that it can also be an excellent place to escape to even if blowing a month’s pay on gambling and booze is not your thing. Here are the top things to do on a pampering mini escape:

1. Stay at a very nice hotel/resort, after all you are coming to treat yourself! When choosing where to stay consider everything the hotel has to offer, the type of restaurants they have  so you don’t have to go far, the coffee shops in house, the number of pools and how busy those are, the entertainment, the salons and services offered. Once you get there, take advantage of all you have in house. There is no other city where getting a deal in a high end hotel is as easy as in Vegas. Mind you it isn’t always so, when the city is packed with conference attendees or in high tourist season prices do go up, but even so, a nice hotel will cost you less than in other big cities.

2. Go to some shows. There are several Cirque du Soleil shows stationed in Las Vegas of which I am a huge fan, but aside from those there is a variety of choices and many of them brilliantly executed. My absolute favorite is “Le Reve” at the Wynn. Whether you prefer concerts, comedy, musicals, magic there is something for everyone to enjoy.

3. Go to a museum. Say what, museum visits in Vegas?!  Why yes, there are some interesting choices to pick from: The Gallery of Fine Art at Bellagio, The Mob Museum located in Downtown Las Vegas, The Neon Museum also located in Northern Las Vegas, Bauman Rare Books at the Palazzo, technically a store but gazers are welcome. Architecture lovers might want to stop by the Lou Ruvo Center, a building designed by Frank Gehry. Temporary exhibits are also common, so do some research before you go or ask your concierge.

4. Shop. Vegas is a shopping mecca.

The Forum, the mall at Caesar’s Palace is the most ginormous, pretties and most packed with tourists. Fashion Show Mall is across from the Wynn, it has the typical stores most malls have and weekly fashion shows on their runway (hence the name), it is easy to spot, a mostly glass structure with a huge spaceship like thing hanging over it. Miracle Mile is another giant mall at the Planet Hollywood hotel.

For high end shopping check out the Esplanade at the Wynn and Crystals at the Aria hotels, here you will find everything from Chanel, Chloe, Prada, Celine, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Alexander McQueen, Gucci and many more high end brands.

On the other hand, if you are looking for deals, there are two outlets, one on the north end of the city, the other south.

5. Get pampered. Those very nice hotels have some very nice spas and salons, so get a massage, a facial, or try out one of their special treatments.

6. Relax. Go for a swim, soak up the sun while enjoying a good book.

7. Be lazy and indulge. Sleep in, order room service, eat everything you crave; that’s why you’re on vacation right?!

8. Go zip-lining. You can do it at the Rio hotel or at Slotzilla downtown, in the old part of town. While there, check out the light show on Fremont Street and the biggest chunk of gold found to date on display inside the casino at the Golden Nugget hotel.
